This eclipse is a glaring reminder of the urgency to take our meds before someone gets hurt. Ideally in 2011, the meds would include first and foremost some form of meditation and deeper breathing. We’re forced to confront our own paradoxical nature as well as our dualities and contradictions--as painful as it is. Where do we say one thing and do another? Where do we talk out of both sides of our mouth and still feel clueless about where the real truth resides? You know those conversations or emails you have with an ex where you feel the need to both love and hurt at the same time? That’s where the Sagittarius eclipse comes in: we are forced to confront the cross your heart and swear to die level of truth.

Getting Brutally Honest:

Confronting inconvenient truths and eclipsing convenient lies. Write down the three biggest lies you are still telling yourself or others about yourself? And then ask yourself what it will take to change your story. This is an excellent time to monitor current self-chat. If it includes any of the following: ugly, fat, stupid, lazy, or loser—take lotus position at once! We can’t afford to keep running the same self-abusive thought patterns and expect our relationships, health and lives to flourish. Gemini-Sagittarius eclipse points remind us of the power of words and intentions. It’s not just what you say—it’s the thought and more importantly the energy of the intention behind the thought that leads to the words spoken. I don’t know about you, but my brain is starting to organize itself in 140 characters with hatch marks as subtext. Cannot even begin to describe the agony and anguish that is going into forcing myself not to just turn this into a quick fix Tumblr post, status update or 5 Tweets (which would probably be the smarter idea considering there may only be a handful of people left on this earth with the attention span to actually focus for an entire paragraph and they probably aren’t following, liking or thumbs-uping.)

This eclipse highlights how the immediacy and boundary-exempt reality that our high tech world provides has paradoxically ripped away our ability to be present, focus and appreciate that the good things in life take time. As Amma says: if we try to force open a flower before its time to blossom, we will destroy all the fragrance. And the same happens when we lose patience for the process and kill all the beauty because we reverted again to iCrack urgency mode and couldn’t download the app or the relationship fast enough.

Look around and see how easily people channel Satan the second the speed of the Wifi connection slows down or they have to wait for their side of Ketsup. And if you really want to witness a demonic possession—disconnect someone’s modem, or put them on hold for more than 50 seconds.

No Doubt:

Three D’s that destroy us when we stop evolving: doubt, depression and denial.

They kill our ability to trust ourselves, trust life and trust that actually everything is going to be all right. Sagittarius is the sign of faith, optimism and truth. When we go into doubting mode, what happens? We run around collecting second opinions, abusing our oracles and going into feedback overload in a vain attempt to alleviate our fears. We don’t trust and we begin a frantic search for the answer out there. We revert to our Gemini minds looking for the immediacy of reassuring sound bytes the mind can attach to. This is when we need to sit down, stop running at the Gemini mouth, power of the iCrap and ground back into the body. Mantras and affirmations are excellent to replace negative mind grooves. Actually many of us have mantras already that we’re using but sadly they are more like the rants of an abusive partner beating us down to make sure we’ll never leave them, or some insane preacher speaking in tongues.

Change the Channel.

We easily become our mental habits. What is the story you tell yourself? Where do you spend most of your mental energy? What do you regularly obsess about? Just a little time of sitting in meditation will reveal the answers to these questions. And most importantly what feelings are you avoiding by obsessing about something else?

This morning in meditation class, the Swami said that the moment we start to think our spine bends. Sagittarius is about expanding our mindset. Opening the mind is easier said than done which is why Sagittarius is associated with travel. By changing the details of our daily routine, we can change our thinking. Childhood wounds play a huge part in the negative side of the drama we create in our mind and spin out into our reality. Look to where you keep recreating the same scenarios that only serve to reinforce limiting beliefs about yourself and the world.

Our minds need maintenance.

Amma says we need alarms of awareness and discrimination before negative thoughts have a chance to destroy us. Especially anger. When we’re angry we release poisonous vibrations into our cells and the atmosphere. After a huge fight, doesn’t your body feel like it’s suddenly contracted every form of Cancer and autoimmune disorder known to humankind?

Don’t Believe the Hype:

The trickster is making several appearances compliments of the Sun, Mercury, Venus and the South Node in Gemini. Words can be mighty deceiving so try to see beyond all of the details and get back to the bigger truth, bigger picture. Don't believe the gossip or buy into the cheap version of the story. Sag says we must do the research. Words are the swords in the Tarot for good reason. They can easily harm, distract and put us in the defense zone. Marianne Williamson has a teaching on this. When we feel we need to defend something we give it power and make it more real than if we had ignored it altogether. Just let it go. The other teaching is: do you want to be right or do you want to be happy?

Jupiter & The Wheel of Fortune:

Sagittarius is ruled by the planet Jupiter and is associated with the Wheel of Fortune archetype in Tarot. While we're still riding the wheel of Samsara, if we hold fast to the center we can avoid the feeling of getting dragged through the inevitable ups and downs of karmic cycles like a dead animal stuck to the rubber of the tire instead of rambling on with the flow like the shiny chrome in the middle of the hub.

Sagittarius is the big-breakthrough sign. Sag likes everything big. This eclipse can spark a tremendous six-month period filled with moments of deeper self-realization and unexpected fortune. Aquarius Love: Bill Maher

Maybe every other American movie shouldn't be based on a comic book. Other countries will think Americans live in an infantile fantasy land where reality is whatever we say it is and every problem can be solved with violence.

Women cannot complain about men anymore until they start getting better taste in them.

We have the Bill of Rights. What we need is a Bill of Responsibilities.

Let's face it; God has a big ego problem. Why do we always have to worship him?

Religion, to me, is a bureaucracy between man and God that I don't need.

Born January 20, 1956 in New York right on the first day of Aquarius and under the Chinese sign of the goat--Bill Maher is anything but sheep or conformist. With his hell-bent blunt political satire, you love or loathe him. But true to his his Aquarius Sun, he's certainly not going to alter his behavior just to be liked. An American stand-up comedian (number 38 on Comedy Central's 100 greatest stand-ups of all time), host of HBO's Real Time, and board member of PETA and Project Reason. Half Jewish, half Catholic he identifies himself as "half-Jewish" with a strong disdain for religion that goes back to his father leaving the catholic church when Maher was thirteen due to his disagreement with their position on birth control. He grew up in Jersey and got his break when Steve Allen introduced him to Johnny Carson and got him on the Late Show with David Letterman in the early eighties. His television host role developed in the early nineties with his Emmy Award winning show, Politically Incorrect with Bill Maher.

This controversial remark shortly after 9.11 cost him the renewal of his contract:
We have been the cowards. Lobbing cruise missiles from two thousand miles away. That's cowardly. Staying in the airplane when it hits the building. Say what you want about it. Not cowardly.

Bill Maher is a devout bachelor, apatheist (someone who is not interested in accepting or denying any claims that gods exist or do not exist. In other words, an apatheist is someone who considers the question of the existence of gods as neither meaningful nor relevant to his or her life) libertarian, and supporter of gay marriage and legalizing marijuana.

Bill has an impressive list of planets in opposition in his natal horoscope. This is excellent for one-on-one debate. However the possibility of splitting and shadow projection are strong. Real Time provides the perfect therapeutic venue where he can have it out with his shadows. However, intimate relationships prove difficult with a heavy load of oppositions because of the tendency to split and blame the other for the disavowed aspect in oneself. With oppositions we tend to identify with the faster moving, personal planet and project the opposite on to the nearest and most resonant "hook" in the other. So in Bill's case he would likely project the inner archetypes symbolized by Jupiter, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto. This might explain his ongoing crusade against religious freaks, reckless governing, collective sheep and power-tripping political demigods that refuse to be held accountable.

With his Sun in Aquarius opposite Uranus clearly he is a person who needs a tremendous amount of freedom to make up his own rules in life and relationships. And with the placement of his Moon in the house of the underworld opposite Neptune and Venus in ethereal Pisces in the house that loves service and solitude opposite an intense Jupiter-Pluto in Leo conjunction: his legendary disdain of conventional marriage isn't so surprising. The strong Aquarius (humanitarian)-Libra (justice) and Uranian (revolutionary) signatures in his chart account for his strong political bent, blatant disgust with cowardice and injustice and need for "new rules." The Saturn-Mars conjunction gives him the hard-working, shrewd and cutting style. The strong Neptune aspects in his chart might explain his love of marijuana. Neptune is more spiritual than religious so his famous intolerance for the ignorance that religion can breed has more to do with the lack of thinking for oneself than his lack of heart and soul about humanity. When it comes to the authentic, outlandish, rattle the status quo quality of Aquarius: look no further, Maher is your man.Say what you want about Bill- not cowardly.

Born on this day in 1929, Martin Luther King's words are especially poignant and relevant during a time when our country feels distracted, divided and on the verge of more economic collapse. Crazy is running the streets unmedicated, drunk on dogmatism and pointing its loaded Walmart gun.

When we think of a man with vision, we think of this great Mahatma, MLK. A doctor of Theology, he was greatly influenced by the passive, non-violent resistance teachings of Ghandi and Christ. He chose the Pisces forces of peace, love and forgiveness over an eye-for-an-eye militancy. With Venus, the planet of love and peace ruling his horoscope and exalted in compassionate Pisces in tandem with his Moon in Pisces, it's no small wonder this man was a visionary with the heart of a Saint. When I broke in, in 1957, it was wide open. Now you`re up against strong competition.

I never think of access or good will. I just want a good interview. I want guests to be informative and entertaining. I`ve never been concerned about someone`s liking me tomorrow.

The key to my success as an interviewer is the fact that I am truly interested in a person's craft, in his or her work. And when you sincerely want to find out why people do what they do, you're going to learn a lot. The less I know in advance, the more curious I am on the air.

Born November 19, 1933, Lawrence Harvey Zeiger has just gone down in the Guinness Book of World Records as the longest running talk show with the same host, at the same time, and on the same network in history. After spending a third of his life at CNN, he decided to abdicate his throne to spend more time with his family. Perhaps this was in part fueled by the necessity to save his 8th marriage as evidenced by this statement released by CNN: "I talked to the guys here at CNN and I told them I would like to end Larry King Live, the nightly show, this fall and CNN has graciously accepted, giving me more time for my wife and to get to the kids’ little league games."

He and his wife Shawn filed for a divorce in April 2010 but after the announcement came that he was leaving CNN, they rescinded the filing. Can we see the propensity for multiple marriages in his horoscope? The Mars in Capricorn opposite the Black Moon Lilith in the 7th house could certainly reveal an inner split between the traditional conscious approach to marriage and his shadow inner animus with a devouring nature (Pluto in the 7th house of marriage). Plus Jupiter square Venus could induce an excessive longing for the archetype of Venus--eros, and the ideal female. The strong cardinal points of his chart explain his inherent need for the traditional markers of success: a family, children, career and a good wife. But his north node in Aquarius squaring his Scorpio Sun and Mercury could cause unexpected bursts where his independent and eccentric streaks conflict with his family man side. And having both Lilith and Pluto in Cancer as barometers of the descendant and relationship sector of his horoscope, one might expect a messy marriage situation and understand why he would be a prime candidate for anima possession( inner female unconscious shadow).

Neptune in Virgo trine Venus in Capricorn breeds a compassionate, detail-oriented, hard-working listener and a selfless interviewer of great integrity. Larry always made sure the focus was on the guest and not the interviewer. He never wanted to be overly briefed on his guests because he was afraid it would interfere with his ability to ask real probing questions. He nobly remained committed to attuning himself to the curiosity of the audience. Pluto in the 7th house trine his Sun and Mercury in the 10th house facilitated an ease with even the most intense, powerful guests and subject matters. North Node, Saturn and Part of Fortune in Aquarius explain why Larry could get on with almost anyone. It gives just the right amount of detachment and non-judgmental understanding of people and situations that span the gamut.

Larry was born under a Mercury Retrograde in Scorpio conjunct his Sun in the 10th house making for a top-notch interviewer, investigator and listener. The fixed nature of Scorpio plus his Venus, Mars and Ascendant in dutiful Capricorn seems to over-ride the Mercury Retrograde tendency for a lot of moving around. Twenty-five years is a mighty long time to stick to a job post, network and time slot. Talk about staying power. Although perhaps the variety of guests satisfied the mercurial nature of Mercury--and obviously the chance to re-interview people throughout the years would satisfy the Mercury Rx.

This may also play a large part in his decision to leave CNN so he has more time to enjoy his role as father with his own two very special young sons, Chance (Pisces) and Cannon--the amazing Larry King impersonator (Gemini). Being the true Capricorn Rising, there are no real plans to retire anytime soon, despite the fact that he just turned seventy-seven. He will still be doing quarterly specials for CNN. They might find a replacement for King, but in truth we all know that King is an interview icon--utterly irreplaceable.

If I could only read or quote one person for the rest of my life, it would be Rilke. It was nearly impossible to stop posting quotes--they could go on endlessly. Born René Karl Wilhelm Johann Josef Maria Rilke in Prague, capital of Bohemia, this deep soul lived an intensely difficult early life as an only child. I believe Rilke understood the individuation process, solitude, and the dark night of the soul more intimately than perhaps anyone. Rilke was a Bohemian-Austrian poet and art critic who was considered an important transitional figure between the traditional and modernist poets. His most famous works: Duino Elegies (which actually took a decade to complete due to a creativity crisis), and Letters to a Young Poet. He spent his later years in Paris where he was influenced by the works of Rodin and Cezanne. He struggled with poor health through most of his life and finally died in Switzerland of leukemia.

It seems to me that almost all our sadnesses are moments of tension, which we feel as paralysis because we no longer hear our astonished emotions living. Because we are alone with the unfamiliar presence that has entered us; because everything we trust and are used to is for a moment taken away from us; because we stand in the midst of a transition where we cannot remain standing. That is why the sadness passes: the new presence inside us, the presence that has been added, has entered our heart, has gone into its innermost chamber and is no longer even there, - is already in our bloodstream. And we don't know what it was. We could easily be made to believe that nothing happened, and yet we have changed, as a house that a guest has entered changes. We can't say who has come, perhaps we will never know, but many signs indicate that the future enters us in this way in order to be transformed in us, long before it happens. And that is why it is so important to be solitary and attentive when one is sad: because the seemingly uneventful and motionless moment when our future steps into us is so much closer to life than that other loud and accidental point of time when it happens to us as if from outside. The quieter we are, the more patient and open we are in our sadnesses, the more deeply and serenely the new presence can enter us, and the more we can make it our own, the more it becomes our fate; and later on, when it "happens" (that is, steps forth out of us to other people), we will feel related and close to it in our innermost being. And that is necessary. It is necessary - and toward this point our development will move, little by little - that nothing alien happen to us, but only what has long been our own. People have already had to rethink so many concepts of motion; and they ill also gradually come to realize that what we call fate does not come into us from the outside, but emerges from us. It is only because so many people have not absorbed and transformed their fates while they were living in them that they have not realized what was emerging from them; it was so alien to them that they have not realized what was emerging from them; it was so alien to them that, in their confusion and fear, they thought it must have entered them at the very moment they became aware of it, for they swore they had never before found anything like that inside them. Just as people for a long time had a wrong idea about the sun's motion, they are even now wrong about the motion of what is to come. The future stands still, dear Mr. Kappus, but we move in infinite space.

Harpo Marx: beloved actor and comedian from the 1930's was born Adolph Marx in NYC on November 23, 1888. He changed his name to Arthur after 1911. The second oldest of the Marx Brothers, he quit school after his second attempt to pass the second grade. Being one of the only jews in his public school, he was often bullied and teased because of his small stature and even thrown out of windows. He taught himself how to properly hold the harp by studying a picture of an angel in a five-and-dime. Since there was no one in town to show him how to tune the harp properly, he ended up playing with his own unique method and tuning .

Harpo was inspired to develop his "silent" routine after reading a review of one of their performances which had been largely ad-libbed. The theater critic wrote, "Adolph Marx performed beautiful pantomime which was ruined whenever he spoke." Many people assumed he was mute in real life since he never spoke a word in any of the Marx Brothers films. Harpo had a deep and distinguished voice like a professional announcer, and like his brothers he spoke with a New York accent his entire life (for example: "girls" he would pronounce "giles". In private, Harpo actually had a much deeper and more resonant speaking voice than Groucho, which some suspect may be the real reason he was dissuaded from ever speaking in the act. For reference, his voice was fairly similar to Chico's, perhaps too similar, which would be another reason he developed his unique silent stage persona. It is also possible that his rich voice was completely at odds with his puckish character. (from Wikipedia)

He married quite late in life to actress Susan Flemming when he was forty-eight. They remained married for life and adopted four children.

I've had the most incredible luck in my career. I've done lots and lots of jobs, and I've never, ever had a job like Family Feud. I've never dreamed I would ever have a job where so many people could touch me and I could touch them. And it was a great magic about this show that I've never seen on any other show.

If you grew up in the seventies chances are Richard was one of your TV dads. For me it was a combo of Richard Dawson, Bob Barker, Michael Landon (October 31 Scorpio) and James Garner.

AKA "The Kissing Bandit" this snarky-smooching-car salesman bravado-game show host would slober his contestants as they nervously made their way up to compete with the "Survey Says" big red X-alarm- microphone stand on the famous seventies show: Family Feud (1976-1985 and then for one year between 1994-1995). What you may not have known is that he was born in England, ran away from home to join the Merchant Marine and then pursue a boxing career. From there his ultimate destiny was to pursue comedy where he renamed himself ) "Dickie Dawson" from Colin Lionel Emm (his birth name). He was born to an English mother and an American father. In the late sixties, he married British sex symbol Diana Dors and moved to Los Angeles and ended up on the smash hit television show Hogans's Heroes which truly put him on the TV-land map.

Although we don't have his time of birth, we can see from the Sunrise Chart that he most likely had his Sun, Mercury and Venus in Scorpio and Moon in Pisces. This would explain the magnetism, the smart-ass humor and the career interests in the Marines, boxing and comedy. With Saturn-Uranus-N.Node conjunct in Cancer it's quite fitting that his biggest gig was one of Cancer's favorite domains and he spent so much time with families on the Family Feud.

A double-Scorpio (Sun and Moon) of Irish descent and wonderfully intense woman who challenged the boundaries of the modern American art scene in the 1920's. Born in Sun Prairie, Wisconsin the second of seven children, her artistic abilities were recognized at a very early age. She has forever changed the way one might look at rocks, shells, flowers, bones and landscapes. She married art critic and photographer Alfred Stieglitz in 1924. In 1928 six of her calla lily paintings sold for $25,000, the largest sum ever paid for a group of paintings by a living American artist. She spent her later years drawing inspiration from the Southwest, especially in New Mexico where the famous O' Keeffe museum now resides.

Nobody sees a flower really; it is so small. We haven't time, and to see takes time - like to have a friend takes time.

I decided that if I could paint that flower in a huge scale, you could not ignore its beauty.

I decided to start anew, to strip away what I had been taught.

I've been absolutely terrified every moment of my life - and I've never let it keep me from doing a single thing I wanted to do.

I found I could say things with color and shapes that I couldn't say any other way - things I had no words for.

I know now that most people are so closely concerned with themselves that they are not aware of their own individuality, I can see myself, and it has helped me to say what I want to say in paint.

Princess Grace, aka Her Serene Highness was born with her Sun & Ascendant in Scorpio and Moon in Pisces. A remarkable woman with matchless poise, some may have dubbed her an ice queen but all of her male co-stars continually spoke of her warmth and soothing serene presence. She went from Philadelphia to Hollywood to Princess of Monaco. She is beyond brilliant in her iconic Hitchcock films. "Rear Window" is definitely my favorite--although she sadly had to turn down "On The Waterfront" with Brando to make it!

Other interesting little facts that make me adore her all the more: Grace loved roses ( hence the public rose garden in monaco devoted to her); she was bad at math; rose above nonstop tabloid gossip; became very close friends with Josephine Baker after taking a bold stand against a racist incident at The Stork Club in NYC, and later financing her triumphant comeback in 1975; and finally left the legacy of the Princess Grace Foundation to help those with special needs for whom no provision was made within the ordinary social services.

She is being featured on TCM all day in honor of her birthday.

You know, I just love Grace Kelly. Not because she was a princess, not because she was an actress, not because she was my friend, but because she was just about the nicest lady I ever met. Grace brought into my life as she brought into yours, a soft, warm light every time I saw her, and every time I saw her was a holiday of its own. No question, I'll miss her, we'll all miss her, God bless you, Princess Grace.-Jimmy Stewart
